    Responsibilities

    • Oversee outside counsel to enforce company litigation guidelines, efficient use of staff, and appropriate billing practices to achieve quality outcomes
    • Manage outside counsel to ensure cases are being properly negotiated and settled according to the company’s standards
    • Monitor and manage defense costs and expenses
    • Conduct off-site and on-site audits of outside counsel for compliance with company litigation and billing guidelines
    • Diary high exposure litigation and provide feedback to management
    • Train adjusters on litigation oversight and ways to improve cost-effective outcomes
    • Complete any special projects assigned by management

     

    Qualifications

    • JD from an accredited law school with bar admission in any state
    • Prior litigation experience is preferred, but not required
    • Experience with computers and programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Westlaw/Lexis
    • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with minimal direction
    • Strong communication and listening skills
    • This position requires a person who is professional, assertive, reliable, organized, and attentive to detail; someone who is not afraid to engage and confront attorneys on a daily basis
