    Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Companies, rated A+ (“Superior”) by the leading independent rating organization for the industry, is seeking a Procedure Manual Coordinator to join our growing Business Systems team!  If the following describes you, you may be the right person for us:


    The Procedure Manual Coordinator's primary focus is to oversee GUARD's online library of 50 company policy and procedure manuals and business continuity plans.  The Coordinator supports GUARD's business units by creating, maintaining, and enhancing online documentation (e.g., Claims, Underwriting, State Filings, and Employee manuals) in collaboration with business units.  The position requires managing projects and priorities described below while interacting with multiple GUARD business units and departments across diverse employee levels within the company.


    • Collaborate with management and business units to create and maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation. Enhance and improve usability and appearance of documentation.
    • Manage/document/track creation and revision of documentation via an automated system of Help Desk ticket requests in IIS (GUARD's proprietary Intranet Insurance Software). Process requests timely.
    • Work with the Technical System Trainer & Documenter on Topic Help (GUARD's Intranet Insurance Software Users' Guide) maintenance.
    • Oversee, track, and document semi-annual Manual Certifications (to ensure documentation is current and valid) and IIS (GUARD's proprietary Intranet Insurance Software) Group Permissions Approval for MAR (Model Audit Rule).  Follow up timely with management to ensure all certifications and approvals are collected and documented.
    • Oversee policy & procedure manual file archives.  Provide historical, point-in-time documentation for legal discovery requests, Internal Audit Department needs, and external auditors and insurance regulators/departments as requested.
    • Partner with technology services to support/document GUARD's business continuity plans and Disaster Recovery Manual.  Support annual corporate Disaster Recovery testing by conducting and documenting a Business Continuity drill in concert with the testing in Home Office.
    • Generate editable printed documentation from Adobe RoboHelp software as requested.


    • Ability to analyze source documentation into well-organized, succinct, and user-friendly format for online use.
    • Excellent written communication skills.
    • Sound copyediting/proofreading skills and keen attention to detail.
    • Prior experience with policy/procedure writing and/or Adobe RoboHelp a plus.
    • Sound working knowledge of Microsoft products.
    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
    • Knowledge of insurance industry a plus. Lines include:  Workers’ Compensation, Businessowners, Commercial Umbrella, and Commercial Auto, as well as personal lines, including Homeowners and Personal Umbrella.

    Regular hours of operation are Mon-Fri from 8-4:30 with the possibility of some evening and weekend work as needed.
