Overview

Lead Underwriter 

 

This position will be responsible for being the lead underwriter for large strategic agency relationship(s), underwriting all lines of business for their commercial lines book of business. This individual should be able to demonstrate technical knowledge to effectively underwrite Property, Liability, Commercial Auto and Workers Compensation

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, select, and price new and renewal business based on company standards and within granted underwriting authority.
  • Be primary point of contact for agency for new, renewal and in-force business.
  • Develop and grow positive and collaborative relationships with agency management and producers by providing a high level of service.
  • Keep Management informed with regular updates regarding any key issues and developments that impact the agency relationship.
  • Take a lead role in designing and building a team to assist in the underwriting and servicing of the commercial lines book.
  • Achieve production and loss ratio goals for assigned book of business.
  • Work closely with Sales Team to cultivate and foster relationship with production sources with focus on profitable growth.
  • Travel to agency offices as needed to maintain strong relationships, as well as conducting virtual meetings with producers and staff.

Qualifications

Candidates must have:

 

  • At least 5 years of Commercial underwriting experience in Property, Liability, Workers’ Compensation, and Commercial Auto.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Fluent technical computer skills such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • The ability to work as a team player.
  • The ability to effectively multi-task and demonstrate excellent time management skills while exhibiting good judgment.
  • Must be willing to travel as needed to develop agency relationships.

 

Salary Range: $90,000-$125,000 USD

The successful candidate is expected to work in one of our offices 3-4 days per week and also be available for travel as required.

The annual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around the U.S. and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials, education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance, skills and/or training.
