Position Overview

We are seeking an Associate Actuary – Programs who is interested in working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.  The candidate will have exposure to multiple projects including pricing, product development and regulatory filings.  The candidate should have strong technical and analytical skills, attention to detail, and be able to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. The position can be located in either Wilkes-Barre, PA, Philadelphia, PA, Parsippany, NJ or New York, NY.

Responsibilities

  • Complete pricing analysis in support of rate filings, rate level adequacy, profitability, and other actuarial analysis.
  • Manage/lead research, data gathering, and analysis as needed.
  • Grow and develop team members as appropriate.
  • Assist the reserving unit when needed.
  • Ad hoc projects as need arises.
  • Collaborate with our business partners in Underwriting, Sales, Product Development, and Program Management.
  • Communicate results, including insights and initial recommendations within the department and to other departments as appropriate.
  • Suggest and implement methodology enhancements and process efficiencies within the department as appropriate.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation that allows another analyst to understand and recreate the work product.

Salary:$85k - $120k (Starting salary will be determined based on skills and experience). 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or another field with a rigorous mathematics background.
  • At least 5 years of actuarial P&C experience; commercial filing experience a plus.
  • Results-oriented with the ability to multi-task and adjust priorities when necessary.
  • Proficient in Excel and familiarity with SQL and VBA
