The VP E&S Property position will report directly to the Chief Insurance Officer. We are seeking a candidate with extensive product leadership experience, particularly in E&S lines. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in writing single risk E&S business. This role demands a proactive approach to market monitoring and leadership within the E&S department. Candidates should possess a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience and be adept at communicating expertise effectively, adding immediate value to the E&S department. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategy for GUARD’s growing E&S Property portfolio
  • Will have a leadership role in determining the organization’s
    • Product mix
    • Underwriting guidelines
    • Natural catastrophe budget management and deployment
    • Rating and forms management
  • Oversee and manage all single-risk E&S underwriters in addition to strong influence over all delegated authority underwriting
  • Help with the selection and implementation of requisite underwriting tools and systems
  • Lead the development and management of shared and layered E&S property product
  • Assist with post event loss evaluations for proper reserving prudency
  • Collaborate with company CUO and organization leadership on strategy, top and bottom line delivery
  • Review and approve underwriting decisions by team as needed
  • Engage with and travel to key external partners/brokers and personally underwrite business as needed

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of E&S Property underwriting experience
  • Thorough understanding of the E&S property insurance landscape including relationships with key trading partners
  • Experience implementing new underwriting systems
  • Management experience preferred
  • Nat Cat management/budgeting experience
  • Ability to advise on underwriting best practices and ensure compliance standards for E&S unit
  • Mixed background of portfolio and single-risk underwriting preferred
