Role Summary:

The 3rd Party Data Manager will serve as a pivotal member of our Data & Analytics team, overseeing the strategic acquisition and management of third-party data sources critical to our operations. This role is responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships with key data vendors (e.g., Core Logic, Verisk), centralizing the contracts and procurement process, and ensuring that third-party data integrations align with our business objectives and data governance standards. The successful candidate will possess a blend of strategic vision, technical acumen, and strong negotiation skills to effectively manage our external data partnerships and drive value from these relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary liaison between the company and third-party data vendors, fostering strong, productive relationships.
  • Lead the negotiation, renewal, and management of contracts with third-party data providers, ensuring favorable terms and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Align third-party data acquisitions with the company's data strategy, ensuring seamless integration and utilization across business functions.
  • Oversee the quality of third-party data and ensure compliance with data governance and privacy standards.
  • Monitor and manage the budget allocated for third-party data, ensuring optimal spend and evaluating ROI on data acquisitions.
  • Collaborate with various departments, including IT, legal, and business units, to identify data needs and ensure they are met through third-party data sources.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators for third-party data management, ensuring that objectives are met, and value is delivered to the business.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in business administration, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in data management, procurement, or a related field, with a strong preference for experience in the property and casualty insurance industry
  • Proven track record of managing relationships with data vendors and negotiating contracts
  • Deep understanding of data governance, data quality standards, and data privacy regulations
  • Experience with data integration and the technical aspects of managing and utilizing large data sets
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate business needs into data management strategies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Knowledge of industry-specific data sources and vendors (e.g., Core Logic, Verisk) is highly desirable
