Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated ACAS or FCAS to join our growing team.  This position will report to the VP – Reserving Actuary and will play a key role in advancing our estimation of unpaid claims.  The successful candidate will be responsible for completing loss reserve analysis and leading various projects aimed at improving our understand of results.  Projects may include application of data science methods in reserving, the development of a dynamic monitoring tool, and programming of more advanced reserving methods.  The candidate must be self-motivated, work independently, and have strong analytical and communication skills. The position can be located in Wilkes-Barre (PA), New York City (NY), Parsippany (NJ), Chicago (IL), Philadelphia (PA), Atlanta (GA), Dallas (TX), or Phoenix (AZ). The successful candidate is expected to work in one of our offices 3 days per week and also be available for travel as required.

 

  • Quarterly Loss Reserve Analysis: Complete and review the quarterly loss reserve analyses for assigned business segments, with support of VP.
  • Ad Hoc Actuarial Projects: Lead ad hoc projects focused on claims experience, utilizing advanced actuarial techniques when appropriate.
  • Reporting: Assist with the preparation of annual NAIC requirements, including the Statement of Actuarial Opinion, Actuarial Opinion Summary, and Actuarial Report.
  • Collaboration: Provide input on loss experience and collaborate with key business partners, including Actuarial Pricing, Product, and Claims.
  • Leadership: Mentor other team members on actuarial techniques, including peer review of analyses and results.

Qualifications

  • Five or more years of actuarial experience with at least two years of Reserving experience.
  • Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
  • Ability to communicate results and assumptions.
  • Experience collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data and model results.
  • Results-oriented with the ability to multi-task and adjust priorities when necessary.
  • Knowledge of VBA, SQL, R is preferred.
  • Preferred ACAS or FCAS
