Responsibilities

New York Complex Claims Representative

 

Are you ready to take on a challenging role that involves handling loss time Complex Claims across multiple jurisdictions, with a primary focus on New York? Join our dynamic team and make a difference!

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate Compensability and Coverage: Determine compensability and/or coverage issues for workers’ compensation loss time claims.
  • Negotiate Settlements: Skillfully negotiate and finalize settlements under management’s review.
  • Gather Evidence: Collect medical and factual evidence to support claims.
  • Coordinate Investigations: Direct and coordinate the activities of outside investigations.
  • Manage Litigation: Oversee outside counsel and litigation within your authority.
  • Daily Communication: Engage daily with claimants, attorneys, outside investigators, rehabilitation personnel, insureds, medical providers, and agents.
  • Efficient Claims Handling: Ensure timely and efficient handling of claims.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 5+ years in NY loss time workers compensation, including litigated claims.
  • Bonus Skills: Experience with NY Employer’s Liability claims is a plus.
  • Flexibility: Adaptable and positive attitude is essential.
  • Multi-State Knowledge: Ability to learn claims handling procedures in multiple states as needed.
  • Skills: Strong organizational, problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Team Player: Positive attitude towards GUARD and the claims department, with a proven ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Innovative Thinking: Ability to multi-task and think innovatively.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Licensing: Active NY adjuster license is a plus (but not required)
