Responsibilities

Responsibilities: Leverage your JD expertise and become a Liability Adjuster! As an integral part of the Claims unit, the Liability Adjuster is responsible for conducting office investigations and adjusting Commercial General Liability claims. The Adjuster is also responsible for, but not limited to:

 

  • Investigating losses and identifying coverage issues: Conduct thorough investigations to determine the extent of liability and coverage.
  • Obtaining and reviewing evidence, reports, and medical records: Collect and analyze relevant documents to support claim decisions.
  • Establishing damages and reserves: Assess the financial impact of claims and set appropriate reserves.
  • Processing payments: Ensure timely and accurate payment of claims.
  • Taking statements from insureds, claimants, and witnesses: Conduct interviews to gather detailed information about the incident.
  • Managing claims that are in litigation: Oversee and coordinate the handling of claims that have entered the litigation process, ensuring all legal and procedural requirements are met.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree – Limited experience necessary with a strong interest in insurance law and liability claims.
  • Licensing: Active TX All Lines License, or willingness to obtain at company’s expense.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills: Ability to clearly articulate findings and decisions.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills: Proficiency in managing multiple tasks and using relevant software.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively: Ability to manage workload efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail: Ensure accuracy in all aspects of claim handling.
  • Analytical skills: Ability to interpret complex information and make sound decisions.
  • Interpersonal skills: Ability to interact professionally with attorneys, clients, claimants, and colleagues.
