Responsibilities

The Industry Manager will utilize their expertise at a national level to help to define and deliver crossline underwriting strategies for assigned industries. The Industry Manager will drive performance and growth, train and support the production underwriting teams, and work collaboratively with other industry practice and line of business leaders as well as underwriters, distribution, operations, and actuarial stakeholders. The position can be located in either Wilkes-Barre, PA, New York, NY, Philadelphia, PA, Conshohocken, PA, Parsippany, NJ or Atlanta, GA. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, evaluate, and modify our product, pricing, and underwriting strategies for assigned industries across multiple lines of business
  • Provide competitive intelligence by analyzing industry trends, competitor capabilities, pricing, and product offerings.
  • Provide recommendations on how GUARD should evolve its underwriting, product and pricing strategies to align with organizational goals.
  • Define and refine target appetites within assigned industries, identifying distinguishing features of ideal accounts. 
  • Evaluate and implement compelling incentives for agents and insureds that support GUARD’s small commercial package strategy
  • Ensure alignment between underwriting guidelines and target appetite to maintain profitability.
  • Oversee adherence to industry-specific underwriting guidelines and recommend adjustments based on performance insights.
  • Responsible for crossline portfolio management, ensuring holistic profitability across products.
  • Establish KPIs to measure profitability, market penetration, and portfolio diversification by industry vertical
  • Collaborate with partners to optimize processes, appetite, and pricing strategies for improved market positioning.

 

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in commercial P&C insurance, with a background in underwriting, strategy, analytics, finance and/or consulting
  • Advanced knowledge in underwriting property, general liability, auto, workers compensation and umbrella within small business industries such as Hospitality, Retail, Service, Habitational, and Construction.
  • Strong understanding of insurance product development, pricing strategy, and the insurance value chain.
  • Ability to manage complex Property and Casualty underwriting portfolios and deliver to target
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to influence others, including executive leadership, to achieve target outcomes
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Actuarial Science, or a related field.

Salary Range

$95,000-$190,000.00 USD

The successful candidate is expected to work in one of our offices 3 days per week and also be available for travel as required.

The annual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around the U.S. and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials, education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance, skills and/or training.
