Responsibilities

The Trucking Specialist is responsible for investigating and resolving commercial auto liability and physical damage claims with a focus on trucking exposures. The Adjuster is also responsible for, but not limited to: 

  • Analyze and interpret policy language to verify coverage, establish timely and adequate reserves, and consult with coverage counsel on complex or nuanced issues.
  • Manage a caseload of moderate to high complexity and exposure, developing and executing sound claim resolution strategies in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with insureds, claimants, attorneys, body shops, and law enforcement to gather critical information and move claims toward resolution.
  • Partner with defense counsel and external vendors to coordinate litigation strategy, pursue subrogation opportunities, and support recovery efforts.
  • Ensure all claims are handled efficiently, accurately, and in a customer-focused manner while meeting service and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in routine file reviews, team meetings, and ongoing training to support continuous learning and improvement.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience handling commercial auto or trucking claims, with preference for bodily injury and/or cargo exposure experience.
  • Solid understanding of trucking operations, FMCSA/DOT regulations, and multi-jurisdictional claims practices.
  • Proven ability to analyze, negotiate, and resolve claims effectively while managing competing priorities.
  • Possession of applicable state adjuster licenses.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) preferred, otherwise a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in insurance, risk management, or a related field is required.
