Responsibilities

  • Manage large and catastrophic CGL claims, including litigated files
  • Investigate claims and identify coverage issues, liability defenses, and risk transfer opportunities
  • Review construction contracts and insurance policies to determine coverage and priority of coverage
  • Work with defense counsel to manage litigation through resolution
  • Evaluate liability, damages, and exposure using medical records, reports, and other documentation
  • Negotiate claim resolution through settlement, mediation, or trial preparation
  • Set and adjust indemnity and expense reserves
  • Process indemnity and expense payments
  • Interview insureds, claimants, and witnesses
  • Maintain claim file documentation and support claim decisions

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience handling CGL and/or BOP liability claims
  • At least 5 years of experience handling New York Labor Law claims with exposures of $500,000+
  • Bachelor’s degree required; attorney license preferred
  • Experience reviewing insurance coverage and policy language
  • Experience analyzing contracts and risk transfer provisions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage a high-exposure claims caseload
  • Proficient in claims systems and standard business tools
  • Ability to travel as needed for hearings, mediations, trials, and conferences
  • Licensing Requirement: Candidates must hold an active adjuster license or be willing and able to obtain and maintain all required state licenses. The company will support the licensing process, including training and compliance with ongoing continuing education requirements.
