As our Underwriting Training Supervisor, you’ll design and deliver engaging learning experiences that equip underwriters with the skills, judgment, and compliance knowledge they need to assess risk accurately and support the company’s growth.

 

What You’ll Do

In this pivotal role, you will:

Build High‑Impact Training Programs

  • Develop onboarding and continuing education programs that strengthen underwriting knowledge and performance.
  • Partner with underwriting leadership to identify skill gaps and emerging training needs.
  • Create curriculum that covers underwriting principles, risk evaluation, policy forms, compliance, and system functionality.

Deliver Engaging, Effective Instruction

  • Facilitate dynamic in‑person and virtual training sessions using proven adult‑learning techniques.
  • Coach underwriters on facilitation, technical aptitude, decision‑making, and documentation best practices.
  • Provide individualized mentoring to new hires and team members needing additional support.

Evaluate Performance & Continuously Improve

  • Measure training success through audits, evaluations, and performance analytics.
  • Work closely with leaders to track progress and offer timely, actionable feedback.
  • Refine training materials to reflect new insights, regulatory changes, and business priorities.

Partner Across the Organization

  • Collaborate with Product, Underwriting, and cross‑functional peers to align training with organizational goals.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on underwriting best practices, tools, and systems.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, Education, or related field or or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • 3+ years of P&C underwriting experience; knowledge of property and casualty lines required
  • 2+ years of experience in training, coaching, or instructional design.
  • CPCU or AU designation preferred
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and virtual training platforms.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with adult learning theory and instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE).
  • Ability to translate complex underwriting concepts into engaging learning experiences.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills, with an attention to detail.
  • Leadership and influence across cross-functional teams.

 

Salary Range:

57,000-107,000 USD per year. The annual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around the U.S. and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials, education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance, skills and/or training. 

 

The successful candidate is expected to work in one of our offices 3 days per week and also be available for travel as required.
